Building a brand takes a lot of time and effort. It requires serving a lot of customers a quality product or service which they come to know and love.

Totally Nutz® has been building their brand for 29 years. Starting with a single unit as Barker’s Olde Fashioned Almonds in Utah, Matt and Yvette Barker’s nutty journey began.  The Barker’s had been searching for an event-based business which they could take to the people. A business which would allow them to work when and where they wanted and still allow time for their small children. It all started with small local events and seasonal mall locations. As the Barker’s navigated through different event types they grew to multiple mall locations and larger events throughout the Western United States. Most of these relationships are still in place and going very strong. The Barker’s quickly realized that the aroma from the roasting and glazing process was the key to their success. It filled the air around their cart and literally caused people to follow their nose to find the origin of the wonderful smell. At one of our major NFL venues, the owner of the team and stadium followed our aroma and saw our franchisee who was new to his venue. The owner praised his leadership team for bringing in such a wonderful concept, one he had been looking for to add value to his venue. Fast forward to 2014 when the Barker’s decided to share their nut concept with the world by franchising and changing their name to Totally Nutz. Just as they had hoped, their low-cost business model took off. In 2019 Totally Nutz has over 60 units across the country. Franchisees are working local events, mall locations, and sports parks. Many have also contracted for locations in major venues such as Fed Ex Field, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Nissan Stadium, The Rose Bowl, Dignity Health Sports Park, Toyota Stadium, and Texas A&M Kyle Field. As a leadership team for Totally Nutz, many of us travel across the country and around the world for pleasure. As we meet people and discuss where we are from and what we do for a living, we constantly hear the same things – “I love those nuts”, “They are so delicious!”, and “I buy them every time I attend a game.” Building a brand also involves marketing, making sure that people recognize your look, feel and taste. It is also about giving people the same experience whether they find you in Landover, MD at Fed Ex Field or in College Station, TX at Texas A&M Kyle Field. What we really love is when people frequently tell us that they plan to buy our freshly roasted and glazed nuts before they have even left the house and drive to the sports park. It Is exciting that Totally Nutz franchisees don’t have any territory restrictions. Owners can take their business anywhere they choose to go. Contracted events are protected, not geography. Many of our owners will contract for a location at a major league ballpark and then travel south to work at a spring training ballpark during the off-season. Now that is flexibility! If you, or someone you know, is looking for a business opportunity with a great reputation, low-cost of ownership, and a simple concept, reach out to our development team to learn more.
